AI optical character recognition added to RGIS inventory scanners, so counters read alphanumeric part numbers straight off parts and bin labels instead of writing them down. RGIS says a major carrier reported 98.9% inventory accuracy across four warehouses, and the count found more than 2,000 parts not recorded in the airline's system (Aviation Week, January 12, 2026).

Why it can make the operation money

Aviation stores often have missing or no barcodes, and every hand-keyed part number is a chance for error. Better counts mean fewer phantom stock records and fewer emergency buys of parts you already own.
